Breastfeeding in Military Uniform is like Urinating in Uniform….WTH?

By Julie Allen @JuJuNOLABump

“People are comparing breastfeeding in uniform to urinating and defecating in uniform. They’re comparing it to the woman who posed in Playboy in her uniform in 2007. We never expected it to be like this.” –Crystal Scott

I can’t believe the reactions military breastfeeding moms are getting from the public.  There are a few things that aren’t allowed while wearing a uniform like chewing gum, putting your hands in your pockets, and eating while walking…but breastfeeding? Come ON!  There is nothing more beautiful and natural that you can do as a mother.  These women wearing uniforms are supporting our country and putting their lives on hold to serve us, please people, give them respect and support them right back! They may be away from their precious babies at times and breastfeeding is a moment to cherish and bond with their baby.

All I have to say is GO GIRLS! YOU ROCK! AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY!

Air National Guard member Terran Echegoyen McCabe, who is shown hiking her khaki t-shirt to nurse her 10-month-old twin daughters, said that the act of breastfeeding in uniform was not new — she does it all the time, she said, “in our lobby, in my car, in the park.” What was new was the public nature of the photo, which was the point. “I’m proud to be wearing a uniform while breastfeeding. I’m proud of the photo and I hope it encourages other women to know they can breastfeed whether they’re active duty, guard or civilian.” – Huffington Post
